Baragoi, Kenya: A sombre mood has engulfed residents of Baragoi in Samburu North after a 15-year-old Form One student was shot dead by three armed robbers.
The student of Baragoi Mixed Secondary School was selling food at her mother's hotel when the three thugs accosted her demanding money on Tuesday evening.
According to Kenya Red Cross Society Officials, the girl defied the orders from the thugs to hand over the money made from the food trade prompting them to shoot her.
It was also reported that the deceased's younger brother, who was with her, narrowly escaped death after he cooperated and led the robbers to where the cash was kept.
"The girl refused to give them money and one armed with AK47 rifle shot her in the head," Mugambi Gitonga, Samburu County Red Cross Society Coordinator said.

Gitonga said the incident occurred at around 7:30 pm and KRCS Volunteers tried to rescue the critically injured girl but succumbed to the bullet injuries shortly after arriving at Baragoi Sub-County Hospital.
"She was bleeding profusely as a result and she lost a lot of blood which probably led to her death," Gitonga added.
Samburu County Police Boss Patrick Wambane urged residents to assist police with information as they launched investigation.
The incident comes days after a 14-year-old boy was shot dead in the same area following a confrontation by herders.
