Migori, Kenya: The decomposing body of a man was recovered from a pit latrine in Oruba estate in Migori town.
The man, in his mid-50s, had gone missing for a week before he was found in a 20-foot pit latrine under construction.
The body was retrieved by officers from Migori Police Station as residents expressed concern over rising insecurity in the area.
According to the deceased’s wife, the man left home on August 9 without saying where he was going.
She said she tried to contact him when he failed to return home and when she failed, she reported the matter at the area chief’s office.
