Twenty MPs allied to the Jubilee alliance have alleged a plot by western countries to topple President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.
MPs Maina Kamanda (Starehe), Richard Tong’i (Nyaribari Chache), Francis Waititu (Juja), Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), Kareke Mbiuki (Maara), Njoroge Chege (Kasarani), Bernard Mutura (Makadara) and Embakasi West MP George Theuri accused the West of sponsoring dissident activities.
The lawmakers who addressed traders at the populous Muthurwa market in Nairobi city accused the West of financing the opposition coalition to cause instability in the country. They claimed CORD leader Raila Odinga is being used by the West to frustrate the Jubilee administration from executing its constitutional mandate. They accused Raila of attempting to seize power through the back door.
“It looks like Raila came with some magic for tribal incitement to cause chaos from US. We cannot sit and watch what is happening to go on. We want CORD to know that elections were held last year and President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto won. It is time to accept this reality and move forward,” Theuri said.
The leaders also called for overhaul of the security chiefs for failure to take action against well known individuals whom they said are inciting Kenyans and inflaming ethnic tension. “When they will be having their rally at Kamukunji grounds, we as Jubilee will be praying for the country at Uhuru Park,” said Juja MP Francis Waititu.
