Mvita MP, Abdulswamad Sharif has said that he plans to table a motion in parliament to force Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku from the Security docket following what he described as his failure by to curb rising insecurity.

Abdulswamad disclosed that he was already collecting signature from members of parliament that will see the CS whom he accused of neglecting his duties to resign from office by the president.

If the threat by the MP go through, Ole Lenku would be the second Cabinet Secretary to face the impeachment scare that faces devolution CS Anne Waiguru by Igembe South MP Mithika Linturi.

The legislature pointed out that the Cabinet Secretary had failed on his mandate to assure security on the Kenyan citizens.

He also called on the president to come out clear and address the issue of insecurity which he said the society was tired of.

He said there was a need to create new laws so that the Cabinet Secretary in the portfolio they hold are held responsible and accountable to pertinent issues in their dockets.

“The society is tired of these killing. Today it was Sheikh Idriss, who knows tomorrow it might be me. Somebody must be held accountable and take responsibility of the rising insecurity in the country,” Said Abdulswamad.

“We need to create new laws in parliament so that the Ministry involved and those who run them take responsibility. I am seeking signatures from fellow MPs that will oust the CS from office,” said Abdulswamad.

Earlier, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga heightened his stance for a national dialogue with the government claiming that insecurity in the country was one of the issue that needed to be addressed by the government.
