NAIVASHA, KENYA: Police in Mai Mahiu Naivasha have seized bhang worth over Sh1m destined for Mombasa from Migori.
Two middle aged suspects were arrested on a road block along the Mai Mahiu-Narok road ferrying the haul.
A car that the suspects were using was also confiscated and detained in Mai Mahiu police station after the 3am incident.
Drama unfolded at the roadblock as the suspects tried to flee but were nabbed by the officers a few meters from the scene.
On searching the personal car that had dark tints, the bhang was found stashed in black polythene bags.

According to a witness, the car was driving fast and overtaking dangerously along the busy road before it was nabbed.
“We suspected that there car was ferrying something illegal through the way it was being driven,” said the witness.
Mai Mahiu OCS Festus Kisinga confirmed the incident saying that the unprocessed bhang was packed in 41 polythene bags.
He said that officers manning the roadblock flagged down the car and on inspecting it found the haul.
Kisinga said that the two suspects arrested in the car would be arraigned in a Naivasha court faced with various charges.
“Each of the bags weighed around 3kgs and the suspects plus the car ferrying the bhang were towed to the police station,” he said.
