Nairobi, Kenya: The Law Society of Kenya has submitted a petition to Parliament to eject Attorney General Prof Githu Muigai from Office over controversial Anglo Leasing payments.
According to the LSK, the petition was made because the Attorney General has violated the principles and provisions of his office. The petition detailed them as "To act as the principal legal advisor to the Government" and "To represent the national government in court or in any other legal proceedings to which the national government is a party" and "to promote, protect and uphold the rule of law and defend the public interest."
The LSK also claimed the Attorney General violated his role to "protect and promote equality and freedom from discrimination, right to access to information, undertake a fair administrative action which is expeditious", according to The Constitution 2010 under Article 156.
The LSK also detailed the Attorney General's failure to "respond to give letters by the foreign advocate in England who had been hired by the state to defend the suit".
