Police have arrested the director of the defunct Format Supermarket in Kisumu for questioning after the hearing of a case filed against him.
Ashokkumar Patel was picked up by detectives for questioning just after the Lands and Environment Court adjourned a case filed by his nephews, Anupkumar and Sachinkumar Patel.
The arrest was made immediately after Anupkumar, an engineer, had testified that his uncle transferred property in the former Kisumu Municipality from joint ownership status with their late father, Jayantibahi Patel, to himself as the sole owner. He told Justice Anthony Kaniaru that the land was initially registered in the names of their father and uncle.
The matter was adjourned to July 15.
