Kepsa backs State in war against crime

NAIROBI, KENYA: The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (Kepsa) has pledged to support the Government in the campaign for adoption and use of technology in the fight against crime.

Speaking during a meeting with Kepsa, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph ole Lenku said the Government is committed to work with the agency to find innovative solutions to insecurity.

“As a government, we want to enhance security in the country so that we can regain the trust of the business community and strengthen the business environment,” said Ole Lenku.

He further explained the range of security measures the Government was putting in place to improve the security situation, adding that security initiatives in the country can only succeed with cooperation from members of the public.

“The public should actively support government initiatives and lend a hand as we struggle to overcome the challenges currently facing us,” he said.

The CS noted that among the issues that have contributed to insecurity was lack of an effective technology platform that would assist in fighting crime as well as the high rate of unemployment in the country.

The Kepsa delegation led by Chairman Mr Vimal Shah and members of its sector boards said the alliance was ready to make its contribution to the fight against terrorism by supporting technology-based security platforms.

“We are happy to support technology-based platforms to assist in battling crime which would empower members of the public to report to the police and the administration on all unusual activities,” stated Mr Shah.

Ole Lenku said the Government has embarked on an initiative targeting vulnerable youth in the uptake of the 30 per cent procurement threshold.
