Kapenguria, Kenya: An attempt by a bus driver to evade a traffic police check point along the Kapenguria – Kitale Highway almost went sour when the vehicle veered off the road, landing on the roadside.
It later emerged that the vehicle had 19 aliens on board. The vehicle was trying to dodge a roadblock near Bishop Tumkou Secondary School junction along the highway.
West Pokot County Commander of Police Charles Wasike said the bus driver deviated from the road and plied an all weather route to evade a police check before it veered off the road at Keringet near the Anti Stock Theft Police Unit camp. He however confirmed that no casualties were reported at the scene of the accident that happened at around 4pm yesterday.
“The driver was trying to avoid the road block and deviated from the highway instead plying the Keringet rout,” said Mr Wasike. Wasike disclosed that out of those arrested, 19 were aliens and further pointed out that more details regarding them would be availed once police are through with the interrogations.
