Kakamega, Kenya: Church leaders in Western Kenya have appealed to politicians to desist from fanning the debate over the contested results of last year’s General Election and instead contribute to nation building.
Mumias ACK Bishop Beniah Salala dismissed those calling for the disbandment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) saying theirs were antics meant to divert the country’s attention from real issues.
“The opposition should help Kenyans not by mourning past elections but by offering alternative solutions to problems facing wananchi,” said Salala.
Salala said the various ministries in Government need solutions to increase the number of teachers, improve the health services which are in a total mess as well as sorting out the infrastructure problem.

Kakamega based imam Sheikh Ibrahim Sadala said once irrefutable proof is found on the incompetence of the IEBC, the commission should be disbanded.
“However, we should be careful because doing things in a careless manner will only lead to a further waste of taxpayer’s money assembling new institutions,” said Sadala.
At the same time, Sadala pointed out that engaging in debate about the March 4 elections was an exercise in futility.
