Nandi, Kenya; Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has lashed out at Jubilee Government for advancing lopsided development priorities.
Speaking during a fundraiser in aid of construction of a modern library at Buoye Primary School in Kasipul Constituency, Homa Bay County over the weekend, Keter accused the Uhuru government of tolerating corruption and frustrating devolution.
The URP legislator argued that devolution would ensure equitable distribution of the country’s resources hence a more balanced growth. He suggested counties be given 80 per cent of national revenue.
“There is no way the national government would appreciate the success of county governments. I urge governors to work hard and ensure success. They must ensure prudent management of public funds by minimising wastage so as to help improve lives of our people,” said Keter.

He added: “There is no other way Kenya would change from being a third world country to a developed nation without devolution. More money must come down to the people.”
He said Jubilee’s laptop project was a wrong priority and misplaced.
“We cannot promise children laptops when they don’t have food and go to schools that lack basic infrastructure and no teachers. The Government must stop competing with countries like Malasyia and South Korea,” he said.
Keter has been critical of key Jubilee projects like the multi-billion Standard Gauge Railway.
