NAIROBI, KENYA: ODM party has passed resolution to create nine new positions in a move that upset part of the delegates.
Delegates from the Coast region walked out in protest soon the resolution was passed. They claimed the outgoing party Secretary General played a trick in framing question that led to majority adoption of the resolution.
Meanwhile hundreds of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) enthusiasts have flocked the historic Safaricom stadiums Kasarani to elect new party officials amid heavy police presence.
Anti-riot police and GSU personnel are keeping vigil in and around the stadium to keep peace.

Police have evidently thwarted attempts by non-delegates to access the gymnasium where voting will take place.
On Thursday, 15 MPs from coast led by their parliamentary group chair Gedion Mung'aro alleged a plot by opponents to use hired goons to disrupt the elections.
Party leader Raila odinga is expected at the venue at around 1pm.
The kickoff of the process has been delayed with a section of delegates expressing fears over the slow process.
Tension remains high over the voting system as some prefer secret ballot over acclamation intense lobbying among the delegates in ongoing.
