NAIROBI, KENYA: Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has not launched investigations into alleged corruption by governors and Cabinet Secretaries.
In a statement, the commission’s Vice Chairperson Irene Keino refuted claims in a section of media that it was probing two cabinet secretaries for taking bribes, influencing tender awards and abuse of office.
“The commission in the exercise of its mandate under law does not do so through the media as the said article insinuates or seek to illustrate. The commission takes great exception to such reports which only tend to mislead the public,” the statement read in part.
Keino added that the reports were misleading and urged the media houses to seek clarification with the commission before publishing such reports in order to avoid misleading the public.
