Nairobi, Kenya: Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives made unsuccessful attempts to arrest Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Njuguna Ndung’u.
EACC officials yesterday said they could not locate Prof Ndung’u for processing after the Director of Public Prosecutions ordered his arrest and prosecution.
“We have been trying to locate him for processing in vain but our officers are finalising his file for necessary action,” said the commission’s spokesman Yassin Amaro.
However, it emerged that Ndung’u is out of the country and will be back on Friday.

Amaro confirmed the DPP had cleared them to prosecute Ndung’u. DPP Keriako Tobiko gave consent for the governor’s prosecution over awarding of Sh1.2 billion tender.
This followed EACC recommendations to charge Ndung’u and other senior CBK officials with abuse of office for failure to comply with public procurement regulations, leading to the loss of Sh400 million.
