Moi High School Kabarak (MHSK) beat over 80 other high schools to emerge the overall winner in last year’s National Mathematics Contest.

The school also managed to produce the best two students in the annual math contest, which was organised by Moi High School Kabarak and supported by Brookiside Dairies Limited.

Brian Sigei Kipng’etich and Maryann Oloishuro, both in Form Fours, beat over 3,000 contestants in the contest held May last year to win Sh376,000 from Brookside, which presented the cheque yesterday to the school to cater for their school fees.

Presenting the cheque during a colourful ceremony at Kabarak, Brookside’s Business Development Manager Mary Murungi said the firm is committed to demystifying the myth that mathematics is a difficult subject and a preserve for boys. Murungi said they are passionate as a company in supporting the youth through educational programmes.

Murungi said Brookside is investing over Sh1.5 million yearly to the exercise in three different learning centres namely Kabarak, Mang’u and Maseno.

“We congratulate Moi High School Kabarak  for their exemplary performance and consistent results every year. We may consider making this contest a county thing in the future to cater for bright students,” she said.
