The Baringo County government has suffered a major setback after an Eldoret court issued orders stopping the governor from appointing three chief officers pending hearing and determination of a case lodged by a human rights group.
This was after a section of stakeholders from the county moved to court on grounds those nominated did not apply and were not interviewed for the positions they had been nominated to.
Justice Sila Munyao sitting at High Court in Eldoret yesterday evening, issued orders temporarily restraining the county assembly and the governor from approving and appointing chief officers pending hearing of the application.
The matter had been brought before the court under a certificate of urgency by Kipruto Kimosop of Baringo Human Rights Consortium as the petitioner against Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi, Baringo County Service Board and the county assembly.
