Rongo Constituency Development Fund (CDF) chairman Joseph Ngare said the institution was earmarked for a face-lift but funds had not been made available.
“We allocated Sh3.2 million for the construction of modern structures in the school but we have been waiting for a long time now to receive funds from the National Treasury so that we can start the work,” said Mr Ngare.
According to the chairman, the proposal for building new classes was made last year.
Committee met
On Friday, the management committee of the CDF kitty met and resolved to source a contractor who can do the work while they wait for the money to be released.
Last Tuesday, more than 300 pupils escaped unhurt after six classrooms caved in due to strong winds in the area.
Rongo Education Officer Michael Kanditi said there were no funds for emergencies but they were waiting for a response from the Ministry of Education.
