Kenya: Nominated Senator Agnes Zani has joined the growing list of politicians seeking to contest for positions in Orange Democratic Movement party election next month.
Dr. Zani has declared her intention to contest the position of Secretary General.
She will battle it out with the incumbent Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o, Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba and her nominated colleague at the Senate Elizabeth Ongoro.
The party elections are slated for February 28 and March 1, 2014.

Zani, a political novice who declared her candidature for the position Friday through a press statement, said she has what it takes to revamp the party by injecting freshness and new ideas.
“I also bring in regional and gender balances into the equation of national representation that ODM as a party seeks to have across the board,” read her statement in part.
Zani challenged the party to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner saying how ODM will conduct the polls will determine its future and readiness for the 2017 general election.
“We want to show the whole world that internal democracy within a political party can be achieved and it will be achieved,” said the senator.
She urged the delegates to give her the chance to be part of the ODM team that will contribute towards strengthening the party ahead of the 2017 polls.
The party’s National Executive Council (NEC) that was chaired by Raila in Nairobi last Wednesday welcomed all those willing to contest for the 26 party posts saying the polls will be opened to all members.
