Kisumu, Kenya: A middle-aged man who was admitted at Kisumu East District Hospital has died soon after being discharged as health workers strike entered fourth day, Thursday.
The man, a masonary, was admitted at the facility last week after he was allegedly thrown from a two- storey building by his former employer.
‘‘We rushed him to the district hospital and he underwent a head surgery. But when the strike began, he was discharged while in a critical condition,’’ a sister to the deceased,Pamela Agutu, said.
He was injured when he went to demand his unpaid arrears owed by his former employer.

On Wednesday morning, the deceased was reportedly forced out by the hospital by guards.
‘‘When we returned, we found him being at the gate being rained on. We took him to a private hospital but the facility didn’t have enough facilities forcing us to move yet to another hospital. He died on the way,’’ said Agutu.
Kisumu County Director of Medical Services Dr Ojwang Lusi said he was unaware of the incident, as it had not been reported to his office.
When The Standard team visited the hospital, beds were deserted as patients had been discharged by hospital staff.
