Turkana, Kenya: Turkana County leaders have criticised the decision by the Government to deploy the military to fight insecurity in the area terming the action “cosmetic and unrealistic”.
The leaders said the move will not solve the long-standing conflicts between warring communities in West Pokot and Turkana counties.
Led by senator John Munyes, the leaders appealed to the government to solve the boundary issue, the main source of the conflict.
The senator said deployment of the military would be a short term measure and the conflict could recur after they leave.
