New Ford Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa has dismissed Cord leaders’ attempt to equate the Bungoma senate by-election to the Makueni one where Cord candidate won by a landslide.

He expressed confidence that his party’s candidate Musikari Kombo would win and upset the Cord brigade behind Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula.

Speaking on the campaign trail in Kimilili constituency yesterday, Wamalwa warned residents not to fall for the deceptive messages. He reminded them it was electoral malpractices conducted by their rivals that led to the nullification of the Bungoma senatorial election.

“Their slogan, it has been brought to my attention is now, Makueni reloaded. The late Mutula senior was a popularly elected leader that is why his son was given an overwhelming support. This is not the case in Bungoma where the victory of the person who was declared as senator is in question,” said Wamalwa.

Wamalwa asked the voters to come out in large numbers during the by-election slated for December 19 and appealed to them to vote for Musikari Kombo.

Kombo called on the government to enhance security in the county even as he accused his rivals of using the politics of intimidation to create a hostile political environment.

Elsewhere, journalist David Makali, an independent candidate, took his campaigns to Mt Elgon constituency where he asked the residents to vote for him.

Makali, who is making his debut in the political arena, said he is neutral and the right candidate to bring to an end to the current political rivalry and supremacy battles existing in the region which he notes has confined the county to underdevelopment, despite plenty of natural resources.

“Most people know that I have been at the forefront in championing for good governance and integrity in the management of the affairs of this nation and will jealously guard the same for the benefit of the residents her,” said Makali at Kaboywo market centre.
