Bill Flowers' dog has dragged in some strange catches before, but nothing quite like what she brought home last week.

Flowers, 93, says he was walking outside to feed his dog, Liberty, when he noticed her standing over what appeared to be a human leg.

"I examined it," Flowers told KOMO. "I picked it up, and looked at the toes and nothing. None of the leg or foot was damaged -- from the knee down it wasn't damaged at all."

Flowers considered calling the police, but then decided against it. Instead, he put the leg in a plastic bag and buried it himself.

“I'm 93 years old,” he said. “I didn't want to have to go to the pen for something I didn’t do.”

The leg would have likely stayed underground near Flowers' home on the Nisqually Indian Reservation, if not for his daughter, Cheryl. She insisted her dad call the police.

Officials with the Thurston County Sheriff's Office attached a GPS collar to Liberty, hoping she would lead investigators to more evidence, but it was police dogs who turned up parts of a skull, pelvis and a rib cage in the woods near Flowers' home on Sunday, according to KIRO-TV.
