MOMBASA: Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa emerged overall winners in the Coast Juniors swimming championships held at the weekend.
The winners, who enjoyed their home swimming pool, bagged 192.50 points to win the girls’ overall title beating ten schools and clubs.
Busy Bee pulled a major surprise to outsmart well established institutions to settled for second place with 79 points while Dolphin Swim Club were third with 76 points.
Oshwal Academy, Nyali had 73 points for the fourth slot while Nyali Primary School were fifth with 70 points.

Others were Loreto Convent, Mombasa (64), Mombasa Academy (48.50), Braeburn Mombasa International (38), Kivukoni of Malindi (24), Blue Ocean Swim Club (21) and Coast Swim Club, who trailed with eight points.
In the boys’ category, Jaffery Mombasa were unstoppable as they grabbed the top position with 189.50 points beating Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa to second position with 186 points.
Oshwal Academy, Nyali were third with 129 points while Mombasa Academy and Nyali Primary School followed with 77 and 50.50 points respectively.
The rest were Loreto Convent, Mombasa (32), Busy Bee (29), Braeburn Mombasa International (21), Dolphins Swim Club (16), Blue Ocean Swim Club (10) and Coast Swim Club(six).
In the girls’ nine years 100m freestyle relays, Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa were the winners after clocking 1.23.97 while Busy Bee and Loreto Convent, Mombasa timed 1:24.73 and 1:32.25 respectively. In the boys’ nine years 100m freestyle relays, Oshwal Academy, Nyali topped with a time of 1:1.6.39.
Jaffery’s Academy, Mombasa and Loreto Convent, Mombasa clocked 1:20.53 and 1:25.62 for the second and third positions respectively.
