 Tiana Vora was the star after she won three races as the as the Coast Junior Swimming Championships splashed off on Sunday at the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa.

Swimming in the Girls’ Nine Years 200m Individual Medley (IM), Tiana, a pupil at the school, clocked 3:18.97 to win the race.

Laylaa Kizito of Dolphin Swim Club, which is managed by Mohammed Gacheru, clocked 3:21.75 for second slot. Fareeha Vaiani of Aga Khan took third position with 4:23.19.

Tiana once again won the Girls’ Under-9 100m IM, registering  a time of 1:39.20 to win seven points. Daisy Odhiambo of Blue Ocean Swim Club coached by Fauz Ahmed clocked 1:53.18 for the second slot while Michele Kituku of Aga Khan was third with a time of 1:54.19.

In the Girls’ Under-9 100m butterfly, Tiana added her third award after she won the race in 1:38.97, while Laylaa and Daisy clocked 1:41.75 and 2:06.84 for the second and third positions respectively.

In the Boys’ Under-9 100m IM, John Paul of Mombasa Academy emerged victorious with a time of 1:33.89 while Lorenzo Mancini of Aga Khan Academy and Jaffery’s Academy Mombasa Swabri Ahmed clocked 1:38.25 and 1:44.25 respectively.

In the Boys’ Under-9 200m IM, Fardeen Hasham of Jaffery’s won with a time of 3:10.91. John Paul and Luca Mancini (Aga Khan Academy) clocked 3:23.00 and 3:36.44 in that order.

In the Girls’ Under-7 100m IM, Lubaina Islam of Braeburn Mombasa International School emerged the winner, registering a time of 2:08.67. Anna Omwenga (Mombasa Academy) and Sarah Nicole of Nyali were placed second and third with a time of 2:08.80 and 2:20.25 respectively.

In the Boys’ Under-7 and 100m IM, Balala Faris and Timur Alibhai, both of Oshwal Academy, Nyali Primary clocked 1:59.42 and 2:06.32, as Sathyam Gohil of Aga Khan Academy settled for third position with a time of 2:10.54.

In the Girls’ Under-8 100m IM, Laylaa Kizito won with a time of 1:38.78. Debra Langat of Nyali Primary School and Rahil Patel of Oshwal Academy, Nyali, clocked 1:58.06 and 2:08.44.

In the Boys’ Under-8 100m IM, Fardeen Hasham emerged victorious after clocking 1:31.72. Luca Mancini  and Braeburn Mombasa International’s Jacob Philips clocked 1:37.47 and 1.43.20.

The contest, which is being used by the Coast Amateur Swimming Association (Casa) to select a team for the Level One swimming championships in South Africa in March next year ended on Sunday.
