Nakuru County: A prison warden and his accomplice who were the main suspects in a robbery incident last week were yesterday arraigned before a Nakuru court facing robbery with violence charges.
The robbery took place in Nakuru. Gerald Munyao, a warden attached to Nakuru GK prison and Faith Chepkonga appeared before Chief Magistrate Samuel Mungai where they denied all the charges.
Munyao and Chepkonga were charged that on October 17, this year at Kiamunyi estate in Nakuru while armed with a pistol and dangerous weapons they robbed James Gikonyo Kinyoro of his car.
The officers who after driving for a few kilometres away from his home in Kiamunyi estate, where they had hijacked him, dumped him and took off with the car after they had reportedly drugged Gikonyo.

The two also stole a television set, microwave, a Sony radio, Zuku decoder and other household appliances and Sh20,000 cash from their victim’s home, all valued at Sh4.4 million.
The two were further charged that on October 18, they were found with the stolen motor vehicle belonging to Gikonyo in Kapsabet town, Nandi County. The two had been tracked down by police officers from Nakuru with the help of a tracking system company.
Munyao faced a separate charge of being in possession of stolen goods after he was arrested with Zuku decoder, television set, scientific calculator, microwave, tyre and the Sony radio at his home in Hilton estate, Nakuru town.
The case will proceed to hearing on November 29, before Principal Magistrate John Mwaniki.
The court directed the accused persons to apply for bond before the trial court on Thursday, October 24.
