Nyeri, Kenya: Armed robbers Tuesday night broke into two houses at Ruring’u area in Nyeri County and stole phones, electronics and money.
In the 1 am incident, the robbers, armed in crude weapons, broke into the residential houses at Ruring'u estate in Nyeri, when the occupants were asleep and stole from them.
In the first house, belonging to Mr Martin Kariuki, they stole a mobile phone, a home theatre, a gas cylinder, a carpet and Sh13,000 in cash.
Stella Murugi, another victim lost her phone, a sonny DVD and Sh10,000 cash.

Nyeri OCPD John Leshimpiro said they had not apprehended the robbers adding that he had roped in the special crimes unit to aid in investigations.
He noted that mugging incidents have been on the rise in the area and promised to take stern action against the perpetrators.
“We are going to track them using mobile phone tracking devices of the stolen phones. I believe we shall make arrests,” he said.
