A 33-year-old man on Monday locked his wife and three children in a house and set it on fire after a domestic quarrel in Kisumu County.
The machete-wielding man then waited outside the door ready to cut up any one who dared to force his/her way out.
Villagers came to their rescue after they raised an alarm. The incident happened at 2.30am in Donge Village, Ahero.
The children suffered injuries on their limbs while the woman was hit on the head with a machete as she fled from the burning house.

“He hit one after another as they escaped from the fire,” said Vincent Owiti, a neighbour, said.
Nyando police boss Elias Gitonga said the suspect escaped and a manhunt had been launched to arrest him.
Attempted murder
Gitonga said the suspect, when arrested, will be charged with attempted murder.
The man is said to have inherited the woman and that was the basis of the misunderstanding between them.
The victims were rushed to Nyanza Provincial Hospital for treatment.
“The woman is in critical condition,” said Gitonga.
