Kisumu, Kenya: Kisumu County’s suspected serial killer now fears for his life in Kodiaga Prison.
Harrison Okumu who is in remand told the High Court in Kisumu through his lawyer Margaret Opondo that he had received threats regarding his life following the massive publicity of his matter.
In the application, Ms Opondo asked the court that the accused person be put in a separate remand block for security purposes.
She also made an application requesting for Okumu’s personal items to be released by the police and asked the court to look at a possibility of releasing him on bail.

In response, Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Douglas Ogoti said the accused person had not substantiated who was threatening his life. “It is not clear whether his life is being threatened by his fellow remandees or the police,” he told the court.
Concerning the release of his property that was under police custody, Ogoti said it was not clear what the items were and in which police station they were deposited.
Justice Chemitei ordered the relevant authorities to ensure Okumu’s safety.
