Kericho county Governor Prof Paul Chepkwony arrived in the UK on an investment trip that includes Sweden and Germany. The Kootab Myoot Europe Organisation, an umbrella institution that brings together professionals and business partners in the EU, facilitated the UK visit.

The governor’s itinerary as given by the secretary of Kootab Myoot Dr Lang’at of Surrey University included a visit to the university to meet with the vice-chancellor and the university council. Mr Chekwony will also tour Market farm produce. Later on he is expected to have a closed door meeting with the director of James Finlay’s a multinational company with huge tea plantation in Kericho. The talks are likely to hinge on the expiring lease.

The governor praised the visit during the vice-chancellor’s luncheon at Surrey University. He said, “I was so glad to meet with the vice-chancellor and the president of the University council and we have discussed widely on the areas of collaboration:  The VC agreed to support Kabianga University in setting up the veterinary department.”

Kootab Myoot plans to hold Anglo-Kenya Investment Forum in October and it expected many governors would turn up. Kootab Myoot Europe will tomorrow present the governor with some educational resources including an annual trophy to be awarded to the best schools in the county.  Margaret Lesuda, Kenya education attaché in London Mission, accompanied the governor.
