Kisii, Kenya: Teachers Service Commission in Nyamira County has urged those seeking employment to be wary of fraudsters purporting to be officials from the commission.
Speaking at Sironga Girls High School Wednesday, County Director Alex Cheruyoit said con artists were promising to assist the prospective employees get jobs.
“They are cheating the applicants that they can influence their recruitment into the service. Please report such incidents to the relevant authorities for action,” Cheruyoit told hundreds of head teachers from across the county.
“As men of integrity, advise the public that no one can claim to have influence of TSC decisions on employment. We have very clear guidelines that must be followed to the letter,” he added.

He said the document with guidelines on employment is in public domain and asked the head teachers to be extra careful on how they handle the applications they receive.
“This business often attracts so many interests from everywhere, including your own interests but don’t let these supersede the TSC guidelines. Do not make mistakes that would jeopardize the integrity of the recruitment exercise,” Cheruyoit warned the principals.
The county has at least 155 vacancies to fill and the demand for trained teachers to join TSC's payroll has continued to rise over recent times.
Interviews would be conducted between August 19 and 30. Successful job seekers are expected to starting working early next term.
