A bishop of a church in Kisumu is still reeling from shock after he received a well wrapped gift from an alleged congregant only to realise it was a pistol stolen from a police senior sergeant.
The bishop was in his house relaxing during the day when he received a call from an unknown woman who claimed to be a member of his church.
The woman nicely greeted the bishop and informed the man of God that she always got blessed after attending his church and, therefore, had a present for him.

The bishop, happy that at least he had impacted positively on a congregant’s life through the holy word, told the woman to drop the gift at the church premise where a pastor was present.
“No, it is a present for you and only you can receive it. Where do I meet you?” the woman enquired.
Upon reaching the church compound, while still greeting some members of the church, the well-dressed woman, whose eyes were hidden behind huge sunglasses and her hair covered with a headscarf greeted the bishop and whispered, “I am the one.”
The bishop ushered her into the church and she knelt down for a word of prayer to receive tenfold of what she had given. Immediately after the prayer, she handed over a neatly wrapped gift to the bishop and did not wait any longer, but rushed out of the church, took a waiting motorbike and sped away.

The bishop went to his office to have a look at gift, which was covered using layers of wrappers. But he almost fainted when he unwrapped it – a Ceska Pistol! He immediately asked his juniors if any of them knew police officers that he could inform about the ominous gift.
Kisumu DCIO Henry Ndombi said they have been searching for the gun since a week ago when it was stolen from a senior government official’s bodyguard.
“An Administration Police officer from Nairobi and a woman were arraigned in court over the disappearance of the firearm and 15 rounds of ammunition,” said Ndombi.
He said the man had dropped his boss at his home in Eldoret then came back to secure a place to sleep in Kisumu when the incident took place.
He suspects the pistol could have been used in criminal activities because only found seven rounds of ammunition out of the initial 15 were in the magazine. It is yet to be known whether the authorities have caught up with the woman
