A third year engineering student of Moi University was found hanging from a tree in his rural home.
The student committed suicide at his family’s home in Makueni following a dispute with his parents.
Chester Muendi took a rope to his tree of death after the rat poison he had swallowed failed to kill him quickly.
Muendi left campus last week for holiday and travelled to his brother’s home in Nairobi.

He was later called by his mother to travel to their upcountry home in Makueni to work at the family’s farm.
Muendi’s friend Evans Lumumba said he worked at the farm before he committed suicide on June 7.
He did not leave a suicide note.
