Kenya: Two years after the abduction of Mule Yesse, a DO for Wajir South, his family is pleading with the Government to aid in the release of their kin. Mule was abducted by Al Shabaab militia on January 11, 2011 and efforts by his family to rescue him have bore no fruit up to date.

Al Shabaab militia had given the Government an ultimate to release some militia members arrested during the Operation Linda Nchi by the Kenya Defence Forces before they released Mule.

They threatened to behead the DO and a military officer also abducted if the Government did not release the Al Shabaab militia members. That ultimatum since expired and the fate of the two is still unknown.

Yesterday, Mule’s father Edward Yesse pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to find ways of rescuing their son after the previous regime failed to negotiate with the group.

“We approached all State offices since the disappearance of our son but nothing was done to help us at least be in contact with him,” said Yesse.
