BUNGOMA, KENYA: Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has distanced himself from allegations that he could be involved in the ongoing killings in his home region.
While commenting on the current wave of insecurity, Wetangula made it clear that he is not in any way linked to the killings terming the allegations as ‘rumours, reckless and baseless’.
He said security personnel should work towards restoring peace if the killings were to be stopped.
“If I was linked to the killings and general insecurity in Bungoma and its environs I could not be standing here today because I am not in any way above the law,” stated Wetangula. He further emphasised that he is not in aware of the so-called Kabuchai group that has allegedly been conducting the killings in Bungoma.

He instead asked the police to investigate and take necessary action on those involved in crime in the region. “If there are politicians involved then police should ensure they are prosecuted,” he said.
