The ongoing El Nino rains continue to wreak havoc across the country.
So far, at least four people, including a KCSE candidate, have been killed by the floods.
Many villages are marooned and thousands displaced with many roads being rendered impassible.
The situation has forced the Kenya Red Cross to opt for airdrops as more people call for urgent help.
For the better part of Friday, many parts of Mombasa were marooned with residents grappling to walk through the flooded waters.
For instance, in Bamburi area, residents had to use a rope to cross from one side of the road to the other.
Governor Abdulswamad Nassir had earlier on indicated that the county had put all measures in place to mitigate the effects of El Nino.
The governor said the measures included unclogging of drainage systems and a rigorous review of enforcement plans to ensure strict adherence to building standards by all developers operating within the county.
"These efforts are crucial to prevent physical obstructions to water flows, thereby reducing the risk of flooding. Of particular concern is the welfare of residents in informal settlements who are often the most vulnerable during such natural disasters," Nassir said.
