Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has banned politicians from Shakahola, the scene of mass deaths attributed to a cult.
Kindiki who spoke at St Joseph's Benedict Cottolengo Chaaria in Meru during a fundraiser for People With Disability (PWD), said any politician who defies his order will be arrested.
"We are focused on protecting the lives of Kenyans and will prosecute anyone found culpable for the murders at Shakahola," he said.
The CS said the government was planning to conduct the second phase of exhumation and politicians should keep off.
"The politicians going to play politics there, that is an operation zone, keep off unless you have something you want to go and do there," he said.
He said he had allowed the Parliamentary Security Committee in the area since they were exercising their legal mandate.
"I allowed the MPs committee on security because they were exercising an oversight mandate," he said.
The CS said they had nothing to hide hence the reason for allowing MPs at Shakaola.
"They (MPs) were taken around, we have nothing to hide. We cannot have everybody going there to play politics. It is a secured zone and next time we will not be courteous with anybody," he said.
He said President William Ruto had given him the job of securing the safety of all Kenyans and he will discharge his duties without favour.
Kindiki said while the Constitution guarantees freedom of worship, the government will not allow anybody to misuse that privilege to prey on innocent Kenyans.
He was accompanied by MPs Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), Dorothy Muthoni (UDA Nominated), Speaker Ayub Bundi and local MCAs.
