The Coast Parliamentary Group will meet this week to discuss contents of the Building Bridges Initiative report, a Kilifi MP has said.

Ganze MP Teddy Mwambire, who is secretary of the caucus of the more than 40 MPs, said the meeting, which is slated for this week will seek to go through the report and consent to views that will be presented to the BBI committee before the document is taken to Parliament.

“We want the president to either extend the term of the BBI task force or appoint another one to get more views from the public before the final draft is launched because there are still more burning issues that the people of the Coast need addressed through the report,” he said.

Mwambire said the BBI report launched at Bomas on Monday last week still had to be fine-tuned to the best interest of all Kenyans.

“We want to see gains the report has for the people of the Coast region and what gaps need to be filled so that we can have a common stand as a region to push through the document,” he said.

The MP, who met residents at Nyari chief’s camp, said what MPs from the region have been saying about the report were personal views, adding the region’s leaders should have a common stand in order for residents to reap maximum benefits from the proposed constitutional changes.
