Employees who want better salary, good working conditions and best working environment should try Unilever Kenya. This is after the company emerged the best overall in this year’s HR Index 2013 awards. The awards recognise companies with the best HR practices.
Unilever was voted the best in Performance management and remuneration. The sub-index evaluates the performance system of an organisation and the remuneration packages in use, salary bands among other factors. Unilever Kenya is also a place where employees can learn and develop. The working environment also allows the identification and nurturing of talent.
Best motivation
During the event, main speaker Eric Kimani urged HR practioners to live up to the expectations of the profession via personal branding, use of technology, and application of the Independent Contractor principal.

KenGen was voted the best in the public sector. The company has the best communication and motivation is key to the firm. However, the company that attracts many employees is Kenya Ports Authority.
The company receives the highest number of job applications compared to any other company in Kenya.
The HR Index is a tool that measures and determines the best HR practices in an organisation. The companies are rated in each HR performance category.
The other companies that emerged winners in this year’s awards include KCAA, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority and BAT. However the index does not identify the worst performers.
