The Uwezo Fund Oversight Board has unveiled its strategic plan for 2019-23 in a virtual ceremony at its offices in Nairobi.
The strategic plan is aimed at providing a coherent and systematic road-map to guide the implementation of the fund’s programme and activities for the next five years.
Speaking during the launch, Public Service and Gender CS Margaret Kobia (pictured) said through the fund all the benefiting groups were trained on entrepreneurship skills, which has enhanced their ability to undertake successful businesses.
“This fund has also inducted constituency Uwezo Fund Management Committee members and trained 3,800 national government administrative officers on their responsibilities for the effective implementation of the fund,” she said.
Prof Kobia commended the fund for partnering with Toyota Kenya, which supported training of 600 groups in Nairobi County on entrepreneurship skills.
The board’s chair Losenge Turoop said the plan would go a long way in supporting achievement of the board’s mandate of providing accessible and affordable loans and capacity enhancement to youth, women and people living with special abilities.
