Logistics firms and custom agents have raised concerns over increased cost of doing business through the Port of Mombasa due to non-tariff barriers.

Kenya International Freight and Warehousing Association Chairman William Ojonyo said at the weekend traders take up to 10 days to clear their cargo.

“Currently, importers are not able to utilise the four-day free window to clear cargo from the port. Over 80 per cent of cargo that passes through the port incurs storage charges,” he said.
