NAIROBI, KENYA: Kenyans are more connected to national grid compared to a year ago, 2017 economic survey now reveals.

The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics says that the number of customers connected under the rural electrification programme rose by 38.2 per cent from 703.2 thousand in 2015 to 972.0 thousand in 2016.

The supply of electricity recorded a 5.7 percent increase from 9,514.6 GWh to 10,057.7 GWh over the same period.

Total installed electricity capacity stood at 2,325.7 megawatts as December 2016.
