MOMBASA, KENYA: The Mombasa county government has moved to automate its Single Business Permit (SBP) through the launch of an Electronic Business Permit System (EBPS) on Monday.
A Single Business Permit serves to regulate business enterprises operating in the county government of Mombasa while EBPS is an automated system used to process application for the issuance of a SBP.
Governor Hassan Joho said when he unveiled the programme in Mombasa on Monday that the e-business permit system promises to increase and improve how Mombasa County Government delivers services.
'' For you (our customers) it means that time and money spent is greatly reduced. This only means more good news for the Mombasa business environment as it will allow and create for more competitiveness and will promote trade while increasing private investments,'' Joho said.
Joho added that the EBPS System allows one make submissions from the comfort of office, track the status of application online at any time, and notifies one on the status of application through a web and SMS-based tracking and notification system.

Joho said that the automated SBP system will be piloted in Mombasa sub-county for a period of three months and after successful piloting, the system will be deployed progressively in other sub-counties.
