The disappearance of a firearm and 30 rounds ammunition from Mai Mahiu police station took a new twist after 21 spent cartridges were recovered in an abandoned quarry.
Two suspects, have at the same time, been arrested in connection with the loss of the AK47 rifle from the house of a junior officer last week.
The cartridges were recovered at the weekend after residents reported sounds of gun shots from a quarry in the area.
A police source said the gunshots were reported around 3am on Sunday, leading to a massive operation upon which the spent cartridges were recovered.
Naivasha Sub-county Commissioner Abraham Kemboi confirmed that the gun was yet to be recovered.
