The suspects are believed to be part of a cartel that has been stealing vehicles, changing their features and sneaking them out of the country.

One car was recovered from a garage in Nakuru hours after it had been stolen from Kiambu Road in Nairobi, while two others were found in Kikuyu at the weekend.

Car Track officials recovered the one in Nairobi, while those found in Kikuyu were traced by Track It.

The one robbed on Kiambu Road said he was thrown out of the vehicle before the gangsters sped off.

Track It official Shezad Tejani said they managed to locate where the using a tracking signal.

"Just the other day we recovered two vehicles from Tanzania and we are tracing more," he said.

Head of operations at Car Track Wilfred Cheror said cases of hijacking were on the rise and destination of most vehicles was Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda.

He spoke at the Kiambu Police Station where the owner of the stolen car reclaimed it yesterday.
