Hate or love him, Attorney Amos Wako is the best performing member of the Cabinet in Kenya. The Wako-led State Law Office is the best performing institution within the Government of the Republic of Kenya. That is according to a performance report released by government on Monday.
But Amoroso Gombe, one of The Standard Online readers, is not amused by this report.
He writes: "What a joke. The same AG's office that hasn't prosecuted any high profile corruption cases. I think this voting should be done by the people or a neutral entity like the African Development Bank. It really doesn't tally with what the public experiences".
The report, jointly released by President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga at the Kenya International Conference Centre gives the second position to Agriculture Ministry, then headed by William Ruto.

But Ruto was not there to receive the award. Instead, Dr Sally Kosgei, who took over from Ruto following a mini-Cabinet reshuffle last week, received the award. So could Ruto have been sent to sort out underperformance at the Ministry of Higher Education?
As much as Ruto may have his own weaknesses, he takes his work seriously and he has promised to make the Higher Education Ministry vibrant and I hope scandal-free. There are issues to do with Joint Admission Board, Higher Education Loans Board, university staff salaries, parallel degree programmes, tribalism in universities, payment of tuition fees among other issues.
But despite struggling to help the Prime Minister to clear Mau forest of human settlement, Dr Noah Wekesa’s Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife was rated the worst closely followed by that of Gender and Children Services under Nyeri Town MP Esther Murugi.
But how did the Prime Minister’s office perform?
Remember State House was number three!
