The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) cenre managers in Homa Bay county have been warned against exam irregularities.
Homa Bay County Commissioner Moses Lilan said the examination should be conducted in a manner that meets the standards set by the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec).
Addressing journalists after the start of the examination, Lilan said anybody found perpetrating examination irregularities will face legal action.
He told the examination centre managers to exercise caution to prevent exam fraud.
“Let every center manager ensure that the examination is conducted with the sanctity that is required by the Knec. Anybody found perpetrating examination irregularity will suffer punitive legal measures,” Lilan said.
The administrator said the examination started without hitches in the county on Monday morning.
A total of 35,526 Grade six candidates are expected to sit for KPSEA in the county.
The candidates include 18,273 boys and 17,253 girls who are sitting the examination at 877 centres.
“We have not witnessed any problem at the moment and I hope all candidates will be able to sit the examination,” Lilan said.
The county commissioner said the exam papers were dispatched to various centres from 14 containers.
Lilan assured that government officials manning the examinations are on high alert and ready to deal with any challenges to ensure all candidates undertake the exams smoothly.
He called on centre managers, supervisors and invigilators to maintain the integrity of the exams by sealing any loopholes which can lead to cheating.
