President William Ruto on Friday, February 10 made more appointments in the leadership of key parastatals as he continues to push out Uhuru Kenyatta's appointees and replace them with his people.
In the latest list of appointees, Daniel Rono is now be the chairperson of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) for a period of three years, replacing Mary Chao Mwadime, who was appointed to the position in April 2021 by former President Kenyatta. Mwadime's three-year term was yet to expire.
President Ruto also revoked the appointment of Linus Gitahi as the chairperson of the Rivatex East Africa Limited Board of Directors. Gitahi, who was picked by Kenyatta in August 2022, was barely eight months into his appointment. He has been replaced by Cleophas Lagat, who will serve a three-year term.
KNH gets new Board chair
Dr. Samier Muravvej, a dental surgeon and owner of The Smile Centre Dental Clinic, has been appointed the chairperson of the Kenya National Hospital (KNH) for three years. He replaces George Opondo Ooko, whose term was, in May 2022, extended for another three years by former President Kenyatta. Ooko is the CEO of the Commission of Revenue Allocation.
Also pushed out, is the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board chairperson Caroline Kariuki, who was appointed by Kenyatta in July 2022. Until her appointment to Vision 2030, Kariuki served as the CEO of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA). Kariuki has been replaced by former Nambale Member of Parliament (MP) Sakwa Bunyasi, who will serve as Vision 2030 chairperson for three years.
Northern Water Works Development Agency has also been affected. President Ruto has appointed Nasri Sahal as the chairperson of the agency's board until July 2025 while John Lekuton, Christine Jepkoech and Osman Abdi Sirat have been appointed the new members of the Board of Directors of the Northern Water Works Development Agency.
President Ruto also appointed businessman Shaka Kariuki as the chairperson of the Competition Authority of Kenya for a period of three years, revoking the appointment of Nelson Ndirangu.
Kenyatta had, in July 2022, re-appointed Ndirangu to the post for a period of three years.
Tana Water Development Agency
Ruto further revoked the appointment of Tana Water Works Development Agency chairperson David Muthoga, and replaced him with James Gathaka, who will serve a three-year term.
Tanathi Water Works Development Agency chairperson William Ole Maiyani has been replaced by Regina Ndambuki.
At the Kenya Industrial Estates, Lily Ng'ok has replaced Muthoni Kimani as the chairperson of the Board of Directors. Ng'ok will serve for three years.
Former Nyatike MP Omondi Anyanga has been appointed to chair the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority Board of Directors, replacing Stephen Mwangi Karanja.
Hussein Tene, who expressed interest in the Isiolo gubernatorial election on a UDA ticket in 2022, has been appointed the chairperson of the Kenya National Trading Corporation Board, replacing Captain Paul Rukaria. Tene will serve for three years.

Former Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu has been appointed the chairperson of the National Housing Corporation, replacing Ben Gituku.
Ex-Kisauni Member of Parliament Ali Mbogo will now be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council for a period of three years.
The Bomas of Kenya Board also has a new chairperson. Jane Kiptoo has replaced Khadija Awale. Kiptoo is the former Woman Representative of Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Charles Muriuki has been appointed the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Consolidated Bank Limited, replacing Peter Musei.
The Kenya National Library Services Board also has a new chairperson, Robert Theuri, who has replaced Omar Mohamed.
Ngenye Biwott replaces Dorothy Kimeu as the chairperson of the Board of the Special Economic Zones Authority.
Mohamed Amin Sheikh has been retired as the chairperson of the Insurance Regulatory Authority and has been replaced by Moses Wekesa, who will serve for three years.
Kenya Investment Authority
At the Kenya Investment Authority, Sally Njambi will serve as the chairperson of the Board of Directors for three years. She has replaced Wanjuki Muchemi.
In the Same Gazette Notice printout, Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Prof. Njuguna Ndung'u has appointed former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Nelson Havi as the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) for a period of three years, replacing Abdirahin Abdi.
Ndung'u further appointed Beatrice Kones to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Local Authorities Provident Fund (LAPFUND) for a period of three years, replacing Haro Okola.
Cooperatives and SMEs Cabinet Secretary (CS) Simon Chelugui also appointed former Governor of Kisumu County Jack Ranguma as the chairperson of the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority.
