The Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has picked his deputy, Noor Gabow, to perform his duties in an acting capacity.

Mutyambai said he'll be away on sick leave starting Friday, August 26.

"This is to inform the general public that I will be away from office attending to a medical check-up effective today. In my absence, Noor Gabow, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Administration, will act as the IG of the National Police Service until my return," said Mutyambai.

The last time the police chief was spotted in public was on July 31, 2022 during the commissioning of the 27-kilometre Nairobi Expressway.

He was in the company of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Transport Cabinet Secretary (CS) James Macharia and Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) Director-General Lieutenant-General Mohamed Abdalla Badi.
