Agano Party's presidential candidate Mwaure Waihiga has maintained that he has a clean record devoid of corruption.

Mwaure, who is seeking to be Kenya's fifth Head of State appeared at the 2022 presidential debate alone, after Prof George Wajackoya of Roots Party arrived and later left.

The Agano presidential candidate who begun by labelling himself as an anti-corruption crusader justified why he is best fit to lead the country.

"This is my sixth stab at an election. It is not my first time speaking against corruption. As I stand here, I know that nobody can accuse me of having been involved in any scandal," Mwaure said.

I have had opportunities to steal because I was appointed at top-level positions but I chose not to be corrupt, it's a lifestyle," he said.

He has promised to conduct a sweep of national government projects.

"We must still ask how much money went into the SGR. We need to know who are the KEMSA billionaires and why have their names not been published and the money been brought back into the country?" he paused.

He also hit out at Wajackoya who skipped the debate, insisting that he wanted to share a podium with all the four candidates. This according to Mwaure dents one's leadership style.

"How can you lead if you are not ready to come to a platform like this and tell Kenyans what you want to do for them?" Mwaure said.

Mwaure further promised to bring down the cost of living within his first hundred days in office.

"We don't need to wait to restructure our loan, or plant a kind of plant and wait for it to be harvested. We shall introduce subsidies into other food products, and reduce Pay as You Earn (PAYE) by fifty per cent, so that Kenyans can have money to take home with. To spur growth, throw some money into the economy, we shall waive away tax penalties that accrued up to the day we are sworn in." he said.
