Politicians seeking to represent Kangundo North Ward residents in Machakos County Assembly will have to sign an agreement with the electorate ahead of the elections.

Residents, through Kangundo North citizens forum have sent out invitation letters to all the 19 MCA candidates.

These are candidates who have been cleared by the Independent Election and Boundaries Commission to vie for the seat, currently occupied by John Nzomo.

According to a draft MoU copy seen by The Sunday Standard, the residents seek to hold the aspirants to account for the next five years in the event they get elected. 

The elected candidates are to maintain close contact with the electorate and not disappear and reappear five years later to seeking re-election.

Successful candidates will also be required to always consult with the people on matters of legislation, motions and resolutions, the MoU reads in part.

The forum convener former Transport Permanent Secretary, Nduva Muli confirmed all the requisite arrangements have been put in place ahead of the event scheduled for tomorrow.

They will also be required to commit not to be involved in any form of corruption.

The MoU will come into force immediately after the swearing in of the successful candidate after the election.
